15+ years as a senior engineer. A journey through frustration, discovery, and transformation. Now, he gives others what nobody gave him.
Randy Ekakitie spent 15 years as a Chartered Engineer across energy, mining, minerals, metals, and oil and gas. Not as a consultant on the outside. As a practising engineer managing teams, delivering complex projects, and carrying real commercial responsibility.
He holds an MSc in Oil and Gas Engineering (University of Salford), an MBA (Alliance Manchester Business School), and is a Maxwell Leadership certified Speaker, Trainer, and Executive Coach. He is also a DISC Certified Behavioural Analysis Consultant and NLP Practitioner.
But like tens of thousands of technical professionals, Randy hit a wall nobody warned him about. Not a technical wall. A human one. Colleagues with fewer qualifications moved into leadership. His analysis was the most rigorous in the room, yet his voice was the one least heard.
Through honest reflection and deliberate study, he came to one conclusion. The gap was not in the system. It was in skills nobody had taught him: how to communicate with authority, influence without a title, and lead people rather than just manage processes.
"Technical brilliance alone isn't enough. Great leaders know how to communicate clearly, influence effectively, and show up with confidence. That's the gap I help people close."— Randy Ekakitie
That journey became Energising Excellence. He is now an award-winning speaker, coaching and training leaders across engineering, energy, legal, government, and sales.
His belief is simple: technical excellence and outstanding leadership together are the most powerful force in any organisation. That is not a marketing slogan. It is the lesson his own career taught him the hard way.
Leadership and communication: not as separate subjects, but as two sides of the same capability. Randy's work sits at the intersection of both.
Every framework Randy teaches is tested against 15+ years of real-world engineering. That experience is not background. It is the foundation of everything he delivers.
Communication is a learnable discipline. Randy teaches technical professionals to speak with clarity, lead with context, and influence without losing precision. Frameworks, not feelings.
Leadership is a relationship, not a performance. Transformation only happens when people feel genuinely seen and respected. That is the environment Randy creates in every engagement.
Every session ends with tools participants use on Monday morning. Not concepts to admire and forget. The measure of any engagement is what actually changes in behaviour.
A powerful postscript to the day's proceedings — it packed a punch. Exactly the kind of energy and insight that a conference of this calibre needed.
Enjoyable and thought provoking. Randy has a rare ability to challenge your thinking without making you defensive — a genuinely skilled facilitator.
Really made the team reflect on what they do and why — and that's not easy to achieve. Very engaging. The team is still talking about it.
A powerful reminder about self-care and boundaries. Really engaging and delivered in a way that resonated deeply with our whole team.
